Denver Photographers Give Back

Supporting kids in my own community; that’s how I spent a recent Saturday.

For the last several years I have coordinated a group of volunteers who provide high school senior portraits to the graduating seniors from New Legacy Charter School, a local high school for parenting teens.

This year we had the largest graduating class since I started the program and I reached out to the photography community to seek a few more volunteers.  I was pleasantly overwhelmed with volunteers, so many I had to turn some people away until next year!

With awesome support staff from the school, and a donation of free tickets for all the students and volunteers from the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, we spent a beautiful Saturday afternoon making senior pictures for about 20 students.  We had a record 12 photographers and seven volunteer helpers on hand.  I spent my afternoon recording the awesome event.

Since photographers are always on the back side of the camera, I thought it would be fun to share some behind the scenes photos of what happens during a crazy afternoon of senior photos.

I am so grateful to the incredible generosity of the photographers who supported this project: Keiko Matsuno Photography and Jamie Kraus Photography both of whom have been working with me from the start.  Flor Blake Photography, in her second year with the project, and the new volunteers:  Deanna Raso of DMR Photography, Molly Garg Photography , Michel Hansen of Evaro Photography, Gabrielle Stowe Gabrielle Stowe Photography, Christina Christina Cookson Photography Photography, Kayla Martinez of Kyla Rose Photography, Gabrielle Mundie of Chickadee Kisses Photography, and Rebecca Del Castillo of Reflections Photography.
